Last weekend was red grape harvesting time.
Are you ready for some pictures?
Despite the hot, sticky, muggy, icky summer weather (I'm not a fan of hot and sticky can you tell?) this year, we harvested twice the amount of red grapes of the previous year which made us very happy. Despite the fact that we are finding growing grapes in New England not the easiest thing. And growing them organically? Well that's just asking for trouble.
This is Casey, me and Troy, a Smith Academy student who helped us out this summer along with his friend Max.
No one is too small to help. Torren our grandson is helping his mom Jenn (who is also part owner) harvest grapes.
Our son-in-law Terry (who had no idea what he was in for when he married into this family) sorts grapes in the winery in preparation for crushing...
with help from his daughter and our granddaughter Annabella. (Who was also official taste tester).
Jillian, our daughter and Annabella’s mom, was in the background making sure the entire operation was running smoothly.
And finally, the mastermind of this operation, Joshua, operates the crusher/de-stemmer.
A big thanks to Bill, Max, JJ and Lenny without who all would not have gone so smoothly.
